Cultural Heritage & Local Traditions

The surroundings of Ljubno ob Savinji offer rich insight into the cultural heritage of the Upper Savinja Valley. One of the most distinctive traditions is flosarstvo — traditional river timber rafting, which shaped life along the Savinja River for centuries. At the Rafting Museum in Ljubno, you can explore this heritage, and every August the Raftmen’s Ball revives the tradition.
You can also see traditional Palm Sunday pastries (potice) and decorated bundles (butarice), which are blessed annually in front of the parish church.
